When Joe first approached me with the Woodvale Challenge he said, I’ve got an idea, it’s a bit crazy, but tell me what you think. I want you to row across the Atlantic with me?’ I replied, ‘Do you know how hard this is going to be?’ From then I was on board and the campaign had begun. I studied Biological and Medicinal Chemistry at Exeter, where I met Joe through the Rugby Club. Since university I worked in France during the 07/08-winter ski season and spent some time traveling around South America. I am going to take part in the hardest challenge I have faced and I know Joe and I will be able to take it all the way.

I met Chris as a sprightly, energetic and very fresh first year at Exeter University back in September of 2004. I studied classics and philosophy for three years and decided to stay on an extra year to obtain an MA in Middle East studies. Little did I know that four years later I would be preparing to face the elements in perhaps the toughest endurance race on earth. Although this wont be the first endurance competition we have worked together in (for those of you who know, I am of course referring to the Unmentionables ‘05, ‘06 and ‘07), this will be by far the most exhilarating and meaningful. I am pleased that I am going to share this experience with Chris.
