so near yet so far

Well, 260 miles to go and we’re back on the para-anchor. We can almost smell the strawberry daiquiris, mojitos and rum punch, but we’re still a frustrating six days’ rowing off  of getting wasted on the white sands of Antigua. We’ve had to stop rowing as we are drifting too far north, and need to start thinking about our angle of approach to the island. We should start making progress again in 9 hours or so. Thanks again for all the messages of support, this situation is incredibly frustrating at the moment but we’ll just keep thinking of those cocktails at the end of it!

Hi Chris and Joe – the finish is so close. Hope you can get off the para-anchor soon. Very frustrating for you but hope it’s given you some time to reflect on what an achievement this is. Wishing you a following wind all the way to Antigua. Emma

    Chris and Joe,
you know Phil and Ruth can’t afford to stay on in Antigua so stop messing about and get that boat back NOW–only joking they are there for another 10 days –you should be back by then.

    Hi Guys,

Congratualtions – less than a quarter century away now!!!
However and stating the bleedin obvious being Joslin forte -you’re drifting north of the line a bit!

239 away and a nice bit of distance from red arrow who are 274 away.

Joe get to Antigua before your dad gets a taste for the life!

    Love, Kim

Hi Chris and Joe hang in there boys the wind is coming. having looked at the weather forecast it does look like you will get the winds tomorrow and the strongest are to the north where you are and from the north east to push you on. Really enjoy these last days. Love Steve+Libby

  • Brian Gascoigne says:

Incredibly impressed by your stamina, fortitude and good humour. We’re all willing you favourable winds to the finish. Just think how much eating you’ll be able to do to put the weight back on.
    All the best
